COVID-19 Appeal: Supporting Young People from Refugee and Migrant Backgrounds
MYAN NSW believes that every young person from a refugee or migrant background should be connected, influential and valued in our society.
COVID-19 has exacerbated the many existing inequalities in our community — particularly the digital divide. Many of our young people don't have devices to keep them connected to education, work and community. We have received an overwhelming request for support to get them connected — but also for things like food vouchers, warm clothes and help paying bills.
We are aiming to raise $10,000 to go towards:
- more young people with laptops, internet dongles and data so they can access education, work and online support services
- keeping young people warm with winter clothing and help paying heating bills
- helping young people get around Sydney with Opal card top ups
- ensuring they've got food in the fridge and the household items they need
