Each year RESULTS recognises the significant and sustained leadership of advocates, parliamentarians, journalists and partners from the not-for-profit and corporate sectors who make important contributions to achieving our vision of an end to extreme poverty. Our Leadership Awards are an opportunity to say thank you and to help raise the profile of our work.
The 2020 Leadership Awards will be held on the evening of Thursday 5 November. Because of COVID restrictions, this year’s event will be held in person (COVID19 restrictions permitting) and virtually via Zoom.
We are honoured to welcome two leading speakers to join us on the night. Lady Morauta, Vice-Chair of the Board of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, where her appointment was described as historic. Roslyn Morauta’s lifelong commitment to the health and economic development of Papua New Guinea and our region is impressive.
Professor Julie Leask from the University of Sydney is a world leader in immunisation research, a visiting Professorial Fellow at the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance and has a range of advisory roles with WHO. Her extensive expertise includes in behavioural science, especially in vaccination uptake and strengthening vaccination programs and policy.
Nominations came from Volunteers, Staff and Board members of RESULTS and we thank everyone nominated for their substantial contribution to our advocacy and efforts to increase investment in Australian aid to combat the medical and economic ravages of polio, TB and childhood under-nutrition.
The Awards Committee is grateful for the support of Lisa Cornish, winner of the RESULTS Media Award 2019 as the independent member of the Committee in 2020.
Award categories include Volunteer Leaders 2020, Political Leader 2020, Media Leader 2020, & NFP Partner 2020.
Parliamentarians make significant contributions to RESULTS work as hard working and influential leaders, members of the Parliamentary TB Caucus, which informs MPs and Senators of the value of funding research, diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis, and supporters in Parliament of immunisation programs that protect children from vaccine preventable diseases including Polio, pneumonia, diarrhoea, and measles, nutrition programs and support for COVID 19 programs.
