The Stroke Foundation is a national charity that partners with the community to prevent, treat and beat stroke. We stand alongside stroke survivors and their families, healthcare professionals and researchers. We build community awareness and foster new thinking. We support survivors on their journey to live the best possible life after stroke.
Our mission: Prevent stroke. Save lives. Enhance recovery.
Stroke is one of Australia’s biggest killers and a leading cause of disability. It kills more women than breast cancer and more men than prostate cancer. As soon as a stroke attacks your brain, parts of it start to die – at a rate of 1.9 million brain cells a minute. Survival and recovery depends on fast access to treatment.
With your support the Stroke Foundation can:
• partner with the community to raise awareness and work to prevent, treat and beat stroke.
• run free community health checks to identify Australians at risk of stroke.
• can continue to spread the word and save lives.
