Story

CREATE Foundation is the national consumer body representing the voices of children and young people with an out-of-home care experience.

Out-of-home care refers to the care of children and young people who are unable to live with their birth families and are placed in short or long term care to ensure the child’s safety. The children and young people we support have entered the care system through no fault of their own, usually due to neglect or trauma. As a flow on effect, young people exiting the care system are at higher risk of experiencing homelessness, drug or alcohol dependence, unemployment, early parenthood and contact with the criminal justice system.
