One in four women will suffer a miscarriage. One in six will endure infertility. Miscarriage and infertility may be individual journeys, but they should not be walked alone.
At The Pink Elephants Support Network, our aim is to support, nurture and empower these women so that they do not feel alone, unsupported or unvalidated during this time. We want to connect women with others who have walked the path before them and who truly understand the feelings of grief and loss associated with early miscarriage.
Our Miscarriage Care Kits are the first of their kind and have been designed to be given to women upon diagnosis of a miscarriage. Too many women are sent away with no information, no support and no follow up after pregnancy loss. Our kits will provide them with instant and tangible support and information and will guide them to our website and our forums. We want our Care Kits to be available at every ultrasound clinic, GP surgery and Emergency Department in the country. It is a vital and much needed resource and it should be mandatory to have them available to every woman who needs them.
Our website is a central hub of relevant and up to date information, and also contains our fabulous downloadable resources to help women, their partners and friends better understand the impact of what they are going through. We will soon be launching our online forums, where women can form relationships with others experiencing the same as they are... a safe haven for emotions to be expressed, questions to be asked, validation to be given.
Despite the relative commonality of miscarriage, it is still very much a taboo topic in society. We are determined to continue to open up the societal conversation around miscarriage and help to educate people on how to best support women during their time of need. We want to ensure that early miscarriage is acknowledged as a real loss that deserves the grief that so often accompanies it.
