We are a volunteer-run not-for-profit organisation based in St Kilda, Melbourne. We rehome new and pre-loved baby goods and nursery equipment to families in need.
We believe that by reusing and recycling much-loved babies’ and children’s gear, we not only share the joy of motherhood with each other, but we save the earth’s precious resources too.
Donations are distributed to families experiencing hardship in Melbourne and surrounding towns through our partnerships with maternal and child health nurses and local social service agencies.
We welcome teams of up to 15 people on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday.
There are several tasks for people to do during the day, depending upon current needs. This may include:
Cleaning, repairing and safety checking prams, cots, highchairs, car restraints etc
Sorting donations, washing and recycling
Making up toy, linen, clothing or toiletry bags
We start the day at 9:30am and usually finish at around 4:00pm.
It's best to wear layered, comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes (warehouse requirement). Our warehouse is not heated or cooled. There are several great bakeries and cafes nearby, and people love to get out and see the neighbourhood at lunchtime (12:00-1:00pm).
St Kilda Mums is funded entirely by donations. We kindly request a financial contribution of $600 (+GST) for groups up to 10 and $800 (+GST) for groups of 11-15. This ensures that you have a trained staff member guiding your team throughout the day and that you get the most out of your volunteering experience with us. It also assists us in continuing to help over 10,500 babies and children per year with material aid.
