Since 2014, Volunteer Building Cambodia (VBC) has been providing impoverished families in rural Siem Reap Province with housing, wells, solar systems and toilet facilities.
VBC is solely funded by volunteers and donors travelling to Siem Reap, where they work with the local team in delivering these services. Additionally VBC provides English and technology education through their Community Centre to the local rural children. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on travel, VBC has been cut off from it's primary source of funding.
In order to survive as an organisation, VBC has pivoted to focus on some key activities which will assist not only themselves in staying employed and engaged, but also the communities in which they operate. These include:
To support these activities over the next 6 months, and to be able to keep VBC viable, they need our help! VBC estimates they will need an additional $13,500 USD / $20,000 AUD to deliver on this plan. To give you an understanding of how far your donation goes :
$3500 USD = 1 new home built with renewable building materials
$320 USD = 1 toilet constructed
$260 USD = 1 solar power system installed
$30 USD = 1 large bag of rice to feed a family for a month
We know this is a challenging time for many people. And with that lens we would greatly appreciate any and as much assistance you are able to provide. As you can see, a donation of $30 USD can help feed a family for a month.
Please don't forget, these donations ARE tax deductible in Australia and donations before June 30 can be claimed back almost immediately!
Thank you so much for your support!
