What we are asking for and why

Access to vaccinations is every child’s right.

Work with UNICEF to address vaccine inequity in Papua New Guinea. Our ultimate goal is to provide routine immunisation to every child in PNG.

PNG remains susceptible to outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases due to sub-optimal immunisation coverage. Inequity of vaccination coverage is one of the main reasons. Remote areas suffer from very low vaccination rate.

Tambul-Nabilyer is one the lowest performing district of Western Highlands Province having only 19% measles-rubella (MR) coverage and 26% Penta-3 coverage (NDOH HMIS 2017).

With RCPAQAP's support, UNICEF is launching a three-year Equity-focused Immunisation Program in the area.

The program will benefit approximately 9,512 children with routine immunisations including BCG, pentavalent & measles-rubella.

It aims to increase routine immunisation rate to 70% by 2022, reaching the national rate.

RCPAQAP is supporting UNICEF with $25,000/year for the three-year-program. Your valuable contribution will get us even closer to the goal.

Just $20 from your pay can help immunise a child against life-threatening illness. Let's work together to immunise disadvantaged children in PNG, one at a time.

Did you know?

Immunisation is one of the most powerful public health interventions in history. It saves 2-3 million lives each year.

It is also the most cost-effective child health intervention. Every dollar spent on childhood immunisations yields US$44 in economic benefits.

UNICEF and partners support immunisation programmes in over 100 countries to help realize children’s right to survival and good health. UNICEF is the largest buyer of vaccines in the world.
