This organisation is close to my heart.
Can you imagine being released back into the community with no support or access to the services you need? No family support? Nowhere to go and no idea where and how to re-start your life?
And when you throw COVID-19 and self isolation into the mix, any chance of preparing for a future is non-existent.
Women and girls entangled in the criminal justice system have backstories filled with trauma - DV, sexual abuse, addiction and mental illness.
During this time of self isolation I found that I have saved money on train fare, coffees, and packets of Tim Tams. If you have extra cash and want to help a charity doing good work for women and at-risk youth, please donate to this fundraiser so these vital programs can continue.
Please help as the programs are stretched to capacity and under threat of closure due to lack of funds.
Will you provide woman or young girl a lifeline so that she can feel validated and connected to the community?
It is now just over 5 weeks since we launched our Save our Programs From Closure fundraising campaign, and we have raised over $23,000. This is an amazing effort. We have five passionate individuals (Helen, Megan, Kaz, Anne and Ann) who have commenced their own campaigns and I am inspired by their passion and commitment. Other creative ways our supporters have become involved have included Ally selling her artwork and donating a percentage of sales, Nicki and Louise creating their own shout-out on Facebook for their birthdays (donations in lieu of presents). Our long-term supporter Gilbert +Tobin have generously donated to the campaign to support Aboriginal women to participate in mentoring. WJN will shortly start receiving the 'Job Keeper' payments which will enable our programs to continue in the short term. WJN still needs your support to allow our programs to continue at full capacity into the coming financial year. Our Save our Programs From Closure campaign will continue until 30 June 2020. Thank you, Gloria CEO
This is all about helping the clients of WJN, those on the wait list and the women who are about to be released back into the community with no access to support services.
