Why The Equanimity Project?
This is a organisation made up of lived and living experience individuals. Their program is attuned to the challenges emerging in real-time for women facing these struggles. This is vital for enabling us to create a valuable and responsive solution that will truly make a difference.
Why is this so important now?
During COVID-19, every day we faced an increasing number of stories of women seeking safety from domestic abuse or at risk of homelessness. During the pandemic, almost one in 10 Australian women in a relationship have experienced domestic violence, with two-thirds saying the attacks started or became worse during this time. Now we are experiencing the Pink Recession with mature women being the highest registrants at Centrelink.
This has laid bare the gaps in the current system creating an increased urgency for a solution that is responsive and community-led.
The Equanimity Project is about creating a long-term solutions to these gaps. We are seeking Community Advocates, Fundraisers and Volunteers to stand up and take part. Contact us today.
