As of 1st March, the coronavirus has spread to over 100 countries, with more than 125,000 cases confirmed. UNICEF needs your help to scale up our response and contain its outbreak in the East Asia and Pacific region.
The coronavirus is spreading fast. Over 4,500 people have lost their lives and the numbers continue to rise.
Our teams are rapidly responding to the coronavirus outbreak, with an immediate focus on reducing human to human transmission and helping children in areas where their access to essential services has been disrupted.
UNICEF has already flown in 13 tons of urgently needed supplies to affected areas, including protective suits, masks, goggles and gloves for use by health workers.
The impact of this large-scale outbreak on children, especially those living in vulnerable circumstances, can be immense. It is critical that children’s access to learning, health, nutrition and protection services is not affected.
We will support children and their communities in countries that have weak public health infrastructure or social support systems. UNICEF also plans to support distance learning opportunities for children who can’t access school and to provide mental health and psychosocial support to children and families affected.
We need your help to allow us to scale up our response so that we can ensure the continuity of care and education for the most vulnerable children.
