Help us Build A Brighter Place To Play!
Right now, Creative Partnerships Australia through Plus 1, will match every dollar donated up to $50,000.
As ATYP moves into a new home on Pier 2/3 we have a unique opportunity. We can ensure every space - from the rehearsal rooms and offices to the corridors and breakout spaces - encourage creativity, participation and imagination. It is a vision inspired by our beloved friend and colleague, the late Adèle Jeffreys.
Adèle was a dancer, a teacher, a mother, a thought-leader and an inspiration to those who knew her. She was the embodiment of the passion and values of ATYP and a driving force in ensuring creativity, participation and inclusion were at the heart of everything we do.
As ATYP’s Learning Manager for seven years, Adèle championed innovation and access. She pioneered ATYP’s investment in online programming, establishing the live-streaming of performances and the development of interactive teaching resources.
Adèle had a vision: For drama and active participation to be recognised as vital for all learning. It is a vision that still drives our programs today.
Central to Adèle’s approach was the understanding that we do our best learning on our feet, getting involved and interacting with others. Knowledge doesn’t only come from books; it also comes from experience. Adele railed against sitting around tables. She would get everyone on their feet, mixing ideas, working together to solve problems – whether it was a workshop with school students or a staff meeting. She ensured everyone was involved and all voices, opinions and ideas were heard.
Throughout her battle with illness Adèle continued to work and share her passion for inspiring young people. On her death she requested her friends and family donate to ATYP instead of sending flowers.
This is how the Adèle Jeffreys Memorial Fund was established, and through it, you too can help us ensure our new home on Pier 2/3 is extraordinary. Your donation will help create a home for our nation’s leading young artists: a world-class creative space and Australia’s only purpose-built youth theatre.
Please make a donation to the Adèle Jeffreys Memorial Fund by 30 April and help us achieve Adèle’s vision: to ensure young Australians have access to transformative theatre experiences that empower them to tell their own stories — a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
We truly cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support towards our Build A Brighter Place To Play campaign. We are now a big step closer to realising Adèle’s vision of a home for ATYP that celebrates creativity and learning through participation. A plaque will be displayed in our new space in Adèle’s memory, honouring her passion, love and contribution to ATYP. With your generosity, Adèle’s legacy and vision will be the driving force of our new home and inspire generations to come. Thank you!
