The Macquarie Business Park Community Partnership is organising a fundraising walkathon on the 24th of August to raise funds for local children living in West Ryde to read, learn and succeed. Together, our aim is to add 200 more children to the program. We already have 300 children receiving books and reading resources, with your support we can reach our target of supporting 500 children by the end of the year.
Please donate as little as $15 to make a difference or better still set up your own fundraising page here and get your friends and family to support you while you walk.
Brief about the project:
The partnership began when companies in the business district decided that they wanted to make a difference to the lives of children and young people in the neighbouring areas. Efforts are focused on the suburbs surrounding Ryde, where most children start school without attending formal preschool care, and one third speak English as a second language.
Many of these children lack the skills and knowledge crucial for starting school ready to learn to read and help their children to keep up with their peers. They are much more likely to leave school early, without the education and experience needed to find stable employment. Further to this, almost 15% of 15-19 year-olds in Ryde are out of work – well above the NSW average.
The Macquarie Business Park Partnership responds to these challenges by investing in 2 key areas: early childhood development and youth employment.
Thank you so much for your donation.
