The funds raised from the Macquarie Business Park Community Walkathon will help children and young people in the local community read, learn and succeed.
Currently 300 children are receiving free books and reading resources to help them start school ready. The aim is to support 500 children by the end of the year. Can you help us support 200 more children this year?
Most of the children in this area start school without attending formal preschool care, and one third speak English as a second language. Many of these children lack the skills and knowledge crucial for starting school ready to learn to read and help their children to keep up with their peers. They are much more likely to leave school early, without the education and experience needed to find stable employment.
Youth unemployment is also an issue in this area with almost 15% of 15-19 year-olds in Ryde being out of work – well above the NSW average.
Through this project we endeavour to support children from cradle to career.
Please volunteer with us at the Macquarie Park Walkathon to help raise funds and continue these amazing initiatives.
We need volunteers who aren't participating in the Walkathon to:
Any participation is appreciated! If you are only able to give up 1 hour of your time, it all counts!
