Come and join other Macquarie Business Park colleagues in a fun 7km walkathon around the business park, to raise funds to help children and young people in the local community read, learn and succeed. $10 of your registration fee will go directly to supporting children and young people in the community through our programs.
Currently 300 children are receiving free books and reading resources to help them start school ready. The goal is to support 500 children by the end of the year. We need your help to include 200 more children this year.
Most of the children in the Ryde area start school without attending formal preschool care, and one third speak English as a second language. Many of these children lack the skills and knowledge crucial for starting school ready to learn to read and succeed. Consequently, they are much more likely to leave school early, without the education and experience needed to find stable employment. Youth unemployment is another challenge in Ryde where almost 15% of 15-19 year-olds are out of work – well above the NSW average.
By participating in the Walkathon, you will impact and support children in our local community from cradle to career.
