We are holding Run2Cure, a run through Sydney's Domain with a choice of distance from the 1km Little Heroes fun run for under 5-year olds, to the 1km, 3km, 5km or 10km timed distances. The event aims to raise funds and awareness of neuroblastoma - the leading cause of death of children under 5 and raise funds for research projects (Children's Cancer Institute Australia and Cancer Council NSW) which will help improve the outcomes and side effects of current available treatments.
The 5 year survival rate is approx 60% and one third of those who survive have long term side effects from their actual treatment due to the levels of toxicity. As neuroblastoma is rare, it attracts relatively little research funding.
With your help, our goal is to raise $150,000 from this event to fund leading research projects into neuroblastoma childhood cancer.
